Schitchat is for talking rubbish about television with strangers.
That's a good thing. Here's the line between that and being a problem.
Yes, absolutely
- Swear. Nobody here is precious about it.
- Be rude about the show, the plot, the editing, the twist.
- Be rude about how a contestant is behaving on the programme.
- Argue with people. Disagreeing loudly is the whole idea.
No
- Don't target a person. There's a difference between "that was a
ridiculous thing to say" and going after someone. One is commentary; the other is
harassment.
- No hate. Nothing attacking people for their race, religion, sex,
gender, sexuality, disability or where they're from. No exceptions, no "it was a joke".
- No threats. Not to people on the show, not to people in the room.
- Nothing sexual involving minors. Ever. We report it to NCMEC as the
law requires.
- Don't post personal information. Not yours, not anyone's. We mask
phone numbers and emails automatically, but don't rely on it.
- No spam, scams or advertising.
- Don't pretend to be someone else.
Spoilers
Rooms are split by broadcast region so the coasts don't ruin it for each other, and your
messages are timed to where you are in the show. Still — if you're ahead, don't ruin it.
What happens if you break these
Depending on how bad it is: the message goes, or you're muted, or your account goes. Serious
things — threats, content involving minors — mean an immediate ban and, where the
law requires, a report.
Report anything
Use the report option on a message, or email
what@schitchat.com. We aim to look at every report
within 24 hours. You can also block anyone, and you'll stop seeing them.
